Van Life

In February 2023 I purchased a minivan I live in currently thanks to a good few months of gig work. I spent a year modifying it, adding sleeping, storage, power, refrigeration,  cooking, water and shower and then modifying it a couple more times until I reached its most efficient set up for my needs. This was a major upgrade from living in a car.

I’ve installed a complete house power system. 400 amp hours of lithium battery, 200 watt  of solar panel on roof, solar controller to mange battery charging, a DC to DC charger so house batteries are charged by vehicle when driving. I installed a 2000 watt power inverter for appliances and tools that only operate on 120v. Several DC power charger stations and AC power outlets are located throughout van.

I installed a five gallon filtered water system with DC electric pump. This meets needs for hydration and small cleaning needs. I have a five gallon shower system that can be heated by solar energy if needed. I have 1000 watt microwave, coffeepot, egg cooker and 52 quart refrigerator. I cook with a butane (or propane) stove. I have three tents that can be attached to van at either side door or rear hatch to expand living area when out camping, on beach or in parks. Van has a custom built workstation where front passenger seat was located with power outlets and with space on shelves below to store reading material.

The entire transformation process, a couple trips and how the MiniRV set up is allowing life to be more pleasurable as well as simple is outlined in the journal section.

My entire internal power system on minivan is powered, operated and supported by Renogy products. Find Your Energy Freedom. Shop the Renogy Solar Store on Amazon.
