The Journey to Carnivore
On July 1, 2024 I officially changed from a keto to a zero carb full carnivore diet. Both are considered ketogenic diets because the idea is to get your brain to switch from glucose to ketones for its primary energy source. Why I chose to go full carnivore is a nine year journey going back to shortly after I was shot. (Read About page for more) I deal with a lot of chronic pain that in the beginning would get so bad at times I would pass out. I slept and lived in an executive chair in an old RV that was parked next to a house. I was there over three years and mostly not wanted by home owner. Compassion kept me there. I stayed in chair because sometimes I’d awaken from passing out to discover I also vomited. So as to not choke to death the chair was my home for a couple years.
I landed upon the carnivore diet after years of elimination dieting and frustration with myriad of false research showing meat and fat were bad and sugar and carbs were good. Books and research from experts living the lifestyle and common sense led me to conclude that an all meat based diet would be healthiest and would help rebuild a body that for decades was abused with sugar, seed oils and carbs.
In these pages I share experiences living on a sailboat and in a minivan converted into an RV along side my food journey over past few years leading to a ketogenic carnivore diet. Both of these lifestyles lead me down the path of discovering the importance of nutrition and metabolic health. It is this nutrition issue that is most important to me today. This country has a sick population and getting sicker everyday. I don’t need to regurgitate statistics most everyone already knows. It’s not good. So I feel an obligation to share how the keto and now no carb carnivore diet is repairing and changing the health of a 67 year old man.
I spent a lot of time researching nutrition to help inflammation and pain as I was not taking any drugs. I used medical marijuana some to help pain management freeing my brain to focus on other things. I read about nightshades and other toxic plants. I eliminated them from my diet. I didn’t learn to eliminate spices and related products until late 2023. So many life long favorites foods and spices were causing severe inflammation, joint pain, brain fog, temper issues and a laundry list of other things. It was after I went full carnivore diet that I began to read books on the subject, all of which are highly rated and recommended. Story continues below.

Embracing the Carnivore Lifestyle
For myself weight was not something I was looking to lose. I wanted to lose bad body fat, switch full on to ketosis and rebuild my body over course of next couple years. The first thing thing I noticed after a few days was my head became even more clear, less distracted. My long time depression and anxiety began to diminish. But what was most remarkable is that I have not had a flashback of the day I was shot since I started carnivore. I used to have intense, emotionally disturbing flashbacks of the shooting that recalled every millisecond of the event. They came without warning and it would take hours to recover from them. Prior to carnivore diet I used meditation and that helped some to ease the recovery but not stop them from coming.
